Contemporary and premium brands now dominate department stores' women's fashion floors, according to a new IADS study covered by WWD, with the segment capturing 31% of the category versus 22% for high-street and mid-range and 21% for advanced contemporary. The report identified recurring bestsellers across IADS members, including Sandro, Maje, Max Mara and Self-Portrait in contemporary, and Victoria Beckham, Ami Paris and Jacquemus higher up, alongside a widening online share, up to 22% of department store sales in 2025 from 20% the year before. IADS recommended stores "embrace fit diversity" to sustain denim sell-through amid a mixed picture across markets.
