Luxury handbag demand is cooling as shoppers shift toward jewellery, accessible leather brands and secondhand pieces, WWD reported. IADS director of markets and events Christine Montard told the outlet that department stores are reallocating floor space to more affordable brands such as Polène, DeMellier, Dragon Diffusion and Songmont to offset softness at labels like Gucci and Balenciaga, while beauty, particularly lipsticks and niche fragrances, is flourishing. She noted customers are trading down to cheaper leather goods like belts and diverting some spend toward in-store hospitality experiences.
