"The carnage in the US department store space over the past few years has only accelerated with the Covid-19 health crisis" according to Retail Metrics President. This paper tries to guess who will be the few survivors: Nordstrom with its customer-centric approach (as seen in the July 2020 news), or Dillard's thanks to its real estate. On the luxury segment, the authors try to make an educated guess about Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Saks, or Macy's.
