Hyundai department store of Korea has introduced an app which incorporates iris scanning for user identification. It is the first in Korea to adopt this biometric security measure. The app serves Hyundai's shopping sites The Hyundai and Hyundai H Mall. Recent analysis showed that 70% of online revenue came from mobile apps. New customers signing up to the apps have increased by over 30% annually. Logging in using an ID and password takes around 20 seconds compared to logging in with iris recognition which takes 2.3 seconds. Currently only on Galaxy phones, the group is considering adding a facial recognition feature compatible with iPhone X's FaceID.
