Against a widespread view that department stores are in decline, an article in "The Conversation" looks at some of the department stores around the world who are doing it right. It mentions in particular Galeries Lafayette, Selfridges, Bon Marche, Mitsukoshi (see picture of roof garden), Liberty, Fortnum & Mason, and emphasises experience, community, social shopping, uniqueness, and brand.
