Woolworths of South Africa has announced that the managing director for clothing and general merchandise is leaving its Australian department store company, David Jones, just one month after its country CEO was also dismissed. Another 15 jobs at its head office have also been cut. According to management, the changes will provide a flatter, more customer-focused structure. Woolworths is still making strategic investments in the company such as adding food halls. Some commentators on the other hand, say the changes will make the business more difficult to manage.
