Figures from the Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday period in the US have been overall positive making retailers confident with regard to Christmas:


  • Thanksgiving day online sales were up 18.3% on last year to $2.9bn
  • Black Friday sales online reached $5bn, up 16.9%
  • Cyber Monday online sales were $6.59bn, an increase of 11.9%
  • Over 174 million Americans shopped in stores and online over the period, beating expectations of 164 million
  • The average shopper spent a total of $335, with $251 going towards gift purchases
