UK department store John Lewis confirmed it is to lose its chief executive Andy Street to politics on October 28. Street had been confirmed as the Conservative mayoral candidate for the West Midlands, stepping down from role he has held for nine years. His successor "will be announced in due course", the retailer said. Street has been with John Lewis for 31 years, joining the employee-owned business in 1985 as a graduate trainee.
